Polar FT7 Best Price, Works well, a little small.
This item was purchased to replace an older ACCUREX II monitor I used for years bicycling. The price of replacement of battery and strap on the old one was so close to the purchase of a new one I pulled the trigger on a new one.
The unit works very well, and holds the signal so far perfectly. The new style straps are way more comfortable, but as mentioned in other reviews they are a bit small.
The Actual band as well is a bit small. I have 8" wrists and the band when strapped barely has any left to tuck in the retainer strap.
Other than those two issues this will be perfect for users who are slight of build with smaller wrists.
Polar FT7 Best Price, Very good.
I've had this for three months and it is working great. I'll try to remember to post back in a year or so and let you know if it is still good :) Fits well on my small wrist. Easy to use, interface is intuitive.
I was only disappointed in one thing - I thought that I would be able to see time and heart rate on the same screen and that is not possible. However, I have learned to use the 'heart touch' and see the time and that works pretty well. Otherwise, the functions are excellent; heart rate, time, average and max heart rate per session, saves several sessions. I don't use the polar training site so I can't speak to that part. It is true that you can't hear the 'beeps' when running or cycling but that is not important to me as I keep an eye on my heart rate. It is easy to see the heart rate continuously so that works fine for me.
There are fancier polar watches that have more functions, but this one gives me all the info I need. I have not had to replace the battery but it is customer replaceable. Previous polar watches required sending back to the factory for a battery replacement but not with this model.
Polar FT7 Best Price, Great.
Great product. I can use it with my Boxflex treadclimber and get more info than the treadclimber displays.
There is some discrepancy between calories burned, but I think it'd due to the two algortihm's each piece of equipment uses.
I think the Bowflex treadclimber does a straight mathematical calculation (calories/min X total minutes), and the FT7 uses additional info(age)in it's computation.
It's been great to seeing if I'm in my target zones and the data file retention is nice.
The average heart rate and max heart rate info is also useful.
The added benefit is replaceable batteries.
It's not the top of the line model, but very useful for my purposes.
Great for the P90X workouts & monitoring heart rates during fire service training!
